Description: Alex S. Chun (WSBA No. 26910, admitted 1997) of Edmonds, was suspended for six months, effective 5/20/2020, by order of the Washington Supreme Court. The lawyer’s conduct violated the following Rules of Professional Conduct: 1.15A (Safeguarding Property), 1.15B (Required Trust Account Records), 5.3 (Responsibilities Regarding Nonlawyer Assistants).
In relation to managing his law firm, Chun stipulated to six-month suspension for the following: 1) failing to maintain current, accurate trust account records; 2) failing to properly and timely reconcile his trust account records; 3) failing to promptly pay funds held in trust to those entitled to receive them; 4) retaining funds belonging to him in trust for an unreasonable amount of time; and 5) failing to make reasonable efforts to ensure that his nonlawyer office manager properly accounted for and disbursed trust funds to those entitled to receive them, including to himself, and failing to ensure that this office manager did not improperly convert funds from trust.
